Leamington 2 Kenilworth Town 0  - 03/04/02 - Midland Combination Division One
Taken from the Leamington Courier online

GOALS from Josh Blake and Darren Timms gave Brakes a winning end to a dramatic and difficult week in their battle for promotion to the Midland Combination Premier Division.

The duo struck inside five first-half minutes at the New Windmill on Wednesday night to end the challenge of Martin Sockett's side, who are engaged in their own battle at the opposite end of the Division One table.
It was a big win for Barry Proctor and Jason Cadden's men after draws with Knowle and Rugby - not least because the former side kept up the pressure with a 3-2 win over Wilmcote. Kenilworth remain at the foot of the table, six points behind Holly Lane but with a game in hand.
Sockett's side suffered an early blow when defender Kevin Smith limped off injured. Brakes began to get on top after that, with Paul Nicholls forcing a fine save from Neil Stephenson.

Jonny Burgess headed against the bar from a Timms cross soon after that. His side took the lead on 22 minutes when top scorer Blake rose to head in a cross from captain Steve Thompson.
Thompson was the main provider of the second goal too. Timms headed in the second of two long throws to give Kenilworth a mountain to climb.
Sockett's side came on strongly after that, passing the ball well to frustrate a tired-looking Brakes.
The home side still looked the more dangerous after the break, with Blake lobbing over Stephenson and Thompson shooting straight at him.

Simon Walker and Jamie Barr both made second-half debuts from the bench and Si Wickson came on for his first appearance since a long lay-off.
Cadden said: "It was a job well done because we had to win that game after the two draws.
"It was difficult because Kenilworth had some good players and they came to spoil the party."
